Social Support Workers

ANGLICARE has recently begun operating a Social Support Program for frail older people, younger people with a disability and their carers.

This program specifically supports those who are from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background and are socially isolated.

 

Social Support involves providing one-to-one client support including friendly home visiting, assistance with shopping, attending appointments, outings etc. The program is also planning to commence running small social groups.

 

Volunteers are needed to assist support workers of the Social Support Program with providing one-to-one social support and running of social groups.

Full training will be provided. Volunteers who speak another language are particularly required for this program.

 

If you….

 

  • Are studying community welfare / disability support / aged care or similar OR have experience working in community care
  • Have a heart for supporting those who are socially isolated
  • Can get to the Penrith, Hawkesbury or Blue Mountains areas (travel costs are reimbursed by ANGLICARE)
  • Speak a language other than English (preferred)
